This would be a somewhat impromptu trip. I really wanted another race at altitude and this weekend worked out for us on the schedule. We left Texas Thursday after work and headed to my parent’s house in Arkansas. Sans kids, Fiona and I left at 4:00 am on Friday for the 14-hour drive to Leadville. I picked up my packet and Fiona signed up for the Heavy Half. She decided to run during the drive up. It was quick, but a fantastic weekend.
We had a strong contingent of Texas athletes. Those arm sleeves came off before the race even started. It was way too warm for them.

Many hours spent on the Stairclimber and Incline TM paid off. I even got complimented on my “effortless” walking form.
More downhill=less time for pictures.
Going into the race, I thought I could run it in 6:00 hours. Minus 2 nature breaks, I would have been right under the goal. *pats self on back* Fiona would have a good race as well.
