This amazing trail was a 10 minute drive from our hotel and a favorite of an athlete that I coach. It was so hard to only run 30 minutes here.
There aren't very many pictures from the actual race. From miles 20-80, it was a muddy mess and a battle to stay in front of the cut-offs.
This marked when I put away my phone camera for about 60 miles.
My oldest daughter, Rylie, took over my Instagram account so she could provide updates to friends following at home. Unfortunately, I would only be able to see them at 3 times during the whole race. The aid stations are pretty spread out and does not make it easy on crew. They were troopers though and always greeted me with smiles.
All of these pictures are after Dry Fork Ridge (mile 82.5). While there was still one more cut-off remaining in the race, I was able to breathe easier after hitting this one. We were finally clear of all the mud and I was able to change into clean socks and shoes.
For us, a trip to Colorado isn't complete without the climb up the Manitou Incline and the descent down the Barr Trail. Sadly, I didn't think my foot could handle the run down so Fiona would do the run solo. My consolation prize was ice cream with the girls.
